Every February 2, Professor Groundhog comes out to make a decision about the weather. Well Professor Groundhog decided to open a school for groundhogs so they can learn how to tell the forecast for each February. Each groundhog will be able to predict if there will be six more weeks of winter or if spring is on its way. Apparently the groundhogs were not predicting the right forecast. This is why Professor Groundhog decided to open a school. This is a very funny/humors book for the children. This would be a great book to use to learn about the seasons and groundhogs day. I think this will help the children learn that reading can be fun. I would also like to do an activity after reading the book to see if the children can predict the weather. We would maybe watch the weather for a week and tie in our book with science. We would learn more about the forecast and stuff. This could be a great lesson plan!
